Wine Tasting Clubs
- The Easy Way to Sample Before You Buy

What are wine tasting clubs?
These are clubs where people meet to taste and learn more about types of wines. There are usually local
chapters, state chapters, national chapters and even international wine tasting clubs. Some are formal and some
informal. Some are held by bars, wine retailers and restaurants and some are more casually formed by social
networking groups like the ones found on meetup.com.
Choosing a wine tasting club can be a little confusing. One way to choose a wine tasting venue is
based on your personality type. Do you like large gatherings or small? Do you want something close to home or would
you like to travel a bit? In the New York area, for example, you can probably find a wine tasting on every block in
Manhattan or you can head out to upstate NY or Long Island and explore their wine country and sit in on a wine
tasting over there.
And yet you don't have to be in such a metropolitan area to find a tasting. There are wine tastings in
California, Florida, Oregon and pretty much almost any county that isn't dry ( a dry county is one that does not
allow alcohol - can you imagine???)
You can locate wine tastings by: checking out your local paper, doing a Google search,
checking out Craig's list, looking in your local yellow pages, looking at meetup.com and countless other ways.
Finding one is not a problem. You may want to check out several different wine tasting clubs and see which one
feels right to you or simply check out the weekly and monthly wine tastings in local establishment. The choice is
yours.
Or you can choose to hold your own wine tastings at home. Simply pick out a couple of
bottles of wine that you have been dying to try and invite over a group of friends. There are even companies that
will come in and help you hold your own wine tasting.

Or experiment at home with a wine tasting kit?
Or host your own wine tasting party?
If you do choose to host a wine tasting in your own home, remember to accompany the wines with a nice selection
of cheeses and some fresh fruit and crackers. Remember also that this is a tasting. You are not filling these
glasses to the rim. Pour just enough for your guests to sample your wines, enjoy themselves and still be sober
enough to get home.
For safety sake you may want to either arrange safe passage home for your guests or plan on making a night of it
and having them stay over. It is your responsibility as their host to ensure their safety.
There are many ways to enjoy a wine tasting. The choice is as individual as the types of wines that you
personally enjoy. Experiment a bit. And remember to have fun and stay safe.
